General Education Association Netherlands Bergkerk in Deventer

The monumental Bergkerk, located on a mound in the middle of the Bergkwartier, is ideal for organizing various events. The General Education Association of the Netherlands must have thought this too when looking for a location for a national team building day. During the day, various activities were organized across Deventer for which members could register. There was also a workshop in our shop with the theme of making a flower arrangement together, a real eye-catcher, for the center of the church.

And that worked out well. The test tubes with various flowers, hung in the trees behind the bar, could not be ignored. Our assignment was to transform the church into an attractive location where visitors would get the wow effect. The main theme of the event was “around the world”. The church was divided into separate rooms with food points, each with its own theme.

For example, a food point Asia was set up. Imitation of hip Tokyo with a fushion sushi band and standing tables with lighting. Orchids were used as table decorations and bamboo plants were used in space. A lot of color was used in the food point South America. Wooden seats with (blue) standing tables containing a ficus. Jungle-like plants gave the theme more power. The family feeling was emphasized in the Mediterranean theme by long tables, wooden chairs and by placing trees such as olives, metrosidoruses and planters. On the tables various decorations of flowers and wine bottles. At 1001 Nacht the atmosphere of an Eastern tea house was approached. The guests could sit on low stools and or cloth on the floor. The themes of the different food points ensured the correct alignment with the central theme, around the world. It was a successful event. Fortunately we still have the pictures. Are you watching?
