For the sixth time in a row that ten Kate decorates TEFAF in NY. We are very proud that we have been able to dress up this fair so many times. TEFAF visits New York twice a year, in the spring and autumn. TEFAF NY fall lasted 5 days and took place in Park Avenue Armory. With TEFAF NY Fall behind us, we look forward to TEFAF Maastricht in March 2020.  

The preparation

When preparing, there is always more to it than you think, including TEFAF. The path the flowers take before they arrive in NY is long. First of all, an idea is naturally devised of which flowers will be used. These flowers are then ordered. Once these flowers have arrived, they must first be inspected. The is necessary because of diseases. This entire process takes place on Dutch soil. After this we clean the flowers ourselves at the auction in Aalsmeer, after which the flowers are transported to America. Once arrived in America, the flowers are inspected again. The flowers are then delivered to Park Avenue Armory, where TEFAF takes place. Then the flowers are ready to be made into beautiful decorations. Even at the last minute, the decorations are sometimes adjusted to make the experience of the flower arrangements optimal. For example, there was a last minute change in color and type of orchid.

The end result

Upon entering, visitors are welcomed with the first decoration. This decoration consists of elongated, black frames that serve as the basis for the decoration. This contains deep and warm colors of orchids and gloriosas. The same decoration also decorates the air at the fair. The colors ensure that the decoration stands out and adds atmosphere to the whole.

In addition, various bouquets of seasonal flowers shine on columns in the aisles. Vases filled with the special orchids show off in front of the fireplace and on the tables.
