For example, The Armory was the setting of TEFAF NY Fall 2018 in the heart of New York last week, today other shows steal the hearts of visitors. TEFAF visits New York twice a year, in the spring and autumn. In Maastricht there is room for all kinds of art, during TEFAF NY Fall mainly old masters are shown to the public. We certainly do not lack floral art. We have been a loyal partner of the event on the other side of the Pacific from the beginning.

The preparation

Preparations start around the summer. In close collaboration with architect Tom Postma design, designs, drawings and test setups alternate rapidly. Until the “wow effect” has been reached for each party involved. The deadline is closely monitored because the non-living materials are transported by sea. In addition to the time of shipping, sufficient time is also required for customs clearance, checking customs and other administrative actions. The flowers are cleaned at the auction by Tom and his team and prepared for transport by plane.

This spring, tall vases with spring flowers still adorned the aisles. This autumn, mixed purple / blue seasonal flowers were chosen. For the restaurant we processed over 800 stems of tropical flowers. The final touch is the floral art in the stairways and squares. Real flower towers up to a height of 8.5 meters from 500 purple Vanda plants on wires stole the show there. To ensure that the flowers remain in the service of art every day, the decoration is kept daily and refreshed where necessary.

The end result

It is a matter of good planning and trust to get a good cooperation from the Americans to realize the perfect decoration. Every time a challenge, but this time too we have managed to provide a surprise. Not only the visitors were impressed, but the exhibitors also appreciated this other type of decoration. Especially the somewhat special color choice appealed to many people. In short, we are very satisfied and cannot wait until March 2019 when TEFAF lands again in Maastricht.
